Dallas’ own BigXthaPlug has gained a lot of attention since his ode to his home state, Texas, hit the charts last year. The 26-year-old’s latest album, Take Care, dropped in October, reaching the top 10 of Billboard’s 200 Chart and gaining him the attention of Rolling Stone. Out on tour supporting that new album, he’ll be home, finally, this week and will prowl the stage at the South Side Ballroom in a post-Thanksgiving show.

It’s a holiday weekend, which means a lot of homegrown talent returns to Dallas. That includes rockabilly legend Reverend Horton Heat, who will head to the Longhorn Ballroom Saturday night. Williams and Los Skarnales will join him.

Los Tigres del Norte is considered to be one of the most important Mexican-American bands, and that is likely because their experience resonates with so many. The band’s founding members left the Mexican state of Sinaloa when they were young, settling in San Jose, California. The band’s 40-year career includes hits like “La Puerta Negra” and “De Paisano a Paisano,” and they’ve sold nearly 40 million records and snagged many accolades, including Grammy and Latin Grammy awards.
iHeart Radio Jingle Ball
December 3, 7:30 p.m.| Dickies Arena, Fort Worth
There are at least three things I know for certain about this year’s Jingle Ball. One: Jason Derulo will sing his name at the start of at least four songs. Two: There will be at least one girl who will screech “Drunk, washed up in AUSTIN,” when Dasha sings her biggest hit. Three: There will be at least one girl and one boy who will know every word of “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and will screech/sing/yell it so loudly next to you that you will not actually hear Shaboozey. These are immutable facts. However, you should definitely head to Cowtown on a school night to catch the entire lineup, which also includes Kane Brown, Meghan Trainor, Madison Beer, Saweetie, Katseye, and Wonho.
