Built in 1955, the mid-century modern ranch home at 10831 Pinocchio Dr. underwent a complete transformation in 2023. Architect David Benners and designer Javier Burkle supported the “very creative” homeowners in adding square footage and refreshed accents throughout the property. “It’s all very unique and congruent,” says listing agent Tom Hughes. “From room to room, the house just all makes sense.”

The exterior of the three-bedroom home is fairly low-profile, save for a unique front yard fire pit that Hughes calls a standout feature. If the property is unassuming from the outside, though, its interiors are anything but.

Immediately upon entering through the impressive front pivot door, visitors are greeted with an expansive wall that stands between them and the piece de resistance. “That dividing wall, which separates the front door from the living space, is a wonderful art accent,” says Hughes. “But the centerpiece of the home is the living room and its vaulted wood ceilings.”

Ample natural light fills the living area, which also features a custom stone fireplace with a fluted Art Deco facade from the Chad Dorsey Design Studio’s Strike collection. Down the hall, the primary bedroom–all-new square footage–is equally bright and airy, with a seating area that opens directly into the backyard.

Luxurious finishing touches can be found throughout the property; in the primary bathroom, for example, a wood-lined niche can house a painting or sculpture—perfect for admiring while you’re lounging in the roomy tub.

The property is located in Midway Hills’ Disney Streets neighborhood which dates back to the 1950s, when developers Robert Gump and William Gaynier enticed homebuyers with winsome names, like Aladdin Drive and Sleepy Lane. Today, the area is known for mid-century modern homes, many of which were designed by Thomas Scott Dean and Cliff May.

Today, 10831 Pinocchio still fits right in within this special part of Northwest Dallas. “The area has always been known for its larger lot sizes, and the neighborhood is sprinkled with really good 1950s modern houses,” says Hughes.

Other residents are catching the renovation bug, eager to preserve the classic charm of the Disney Streets while refreshing their homes for the 21st century. “There are a number of big remodels going on right now,” Hughes notes. “What these owners did is also going on throughout several of the blocks.”

Thanks to its generously sized backyard, patio, and kitchen with a built-in icemaker, every corner of the home lends itself well to entertaining guests or unwinding with family. But getting out to explore Dallas is a breeze, too. The property boasts easy access to two Central Market locations, plus a burgeoning restaurant scene at the Preston Royal and Preston Forest shopping centers.

There’s a lot going on in the neighborhood, and 10831 Pinocchio matches that energy. “It’s not like one room has one look. Throughout the property, everything has a ‘cool factor’ to it,” Hughes says.
