At 6323 Kalani Place, surprise is around every corner. There is the turfed backyard, complete with two putting greens for the serious golfer. Then, if you need more practice, the exclusive Northwood Country Club is just steps away. And looking out above it all is the expansive steel-railed deck punctured by a tree trunk, lending the entire place a treehouse-like feel.

It’s the ideal backdrop for the four-bed, four-bath Northwood Hills property’s most unexpected—and most endearing—feature. “There’s so much nature around it, so it’s a great place for birdwatching,” says listing agent Gavin Smith. “The current owner has told me that you wouldn’t believe all of the species of birds they get out here–it’s so tranquil.”

Nestled under lush tree canopy and in close proximity to trails and parks, 6323 Kalani and its accompanying birdsong feel far removed from the hustle and bustle of Dallas. But, Smith adds, people appreciate that 635, 75, and the Dallas North Tollway are still easily accessible.

“This is a really hot area. We’re seeing a lot of movement from the Park Cities toward this direction,” says Smith. “You’re far enough from 635, but still less than 20 minutes from Turtle Creek and the Katy Trail. And the driveway is probably 50 yards or less from the fifth fairway at Northwood Country Club.”

Designed and built in 1982 by renowned architect Mark Shekter, the home blends mid-century and ’80s contemporary aesthetics. It’s had only two owners in its lifetime, which Smith believes makes it even more special. “With two owners, you know that it’s been well taken care of.”

Both families, he notes, were art collectors who took great care to display their pieces with intention—a necessity given the incredible amount of wall and storage space throughout the home. The living room alone is gallery-like, with one art piece currently on display stretching as high as the glass window next to it.

And those windows might be the crown jewels of the interior. “The current owner works from home, and she doesn’t even turn the lights on because she doesn’t need to. It’s already so full of light,” says Smith.

On the exterior, though, there’s even more to discover. The backyard provides ample space for entertaining guests, and they’ll have plenty of options: converse on deck chairs, enjoy the swing tied to one of the trees, or take in the sounds of the small creek. Smith claims that the owners have been “meticulous” about the yard, and the effort is evident from the gravel path landscaping that surrounds the aforementioned custom putting greens. At 6323 Kalani, the outdoors are meant to be enjoyed.

If you’re a homebuyer seeking serenity and looking to play a few holes of golf or develop your birding hobby, it could be the home for you. The best part? “There’s just not a bad view in the house,” says Smith—and we have to agree.
