O2 Dallas is Offering Much More Than Pilates

The newly opened Aspen fitness studio offers heated yoga, mat workouts, and access to emerging fashion labels.

When I first spoke with owner Brittany Van Domelen about O2, the big news was that her slick Pilates and yoga studio, which has been a mainstay of the Aspen boutique fitness scene for nearly two decades, was opening its second-ever studio in Dallas. That, in and of itself, was plenty exciting. The Dallas to Aspen pipeline is strong, and there’s a sense of pride when we get cool things before the coasts. But O2 clearly had more up its ALO sleeves than heated power flow classes.

The studio opened this past spring within the equally slick Terminal at Katy Trail, a new development on Fitzhugh housing 16 luxury condos (which start at $4.5 million) and the just-opened Le PasSage, led by chef Bruno Davaillon (formerly of Bullion and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek). Van Domelen had suggested that O2 Dallas would share the Aspen’s studio’s affinity for booking celebrity instructors like Tracy Anderson, especially given the new studio’s proximity to DFW Airport.

True to her word, Van Domelen and her O2 team have already brought fitness famous brands like Manhattan-based Dancebody to Dallas. The studio has also hosted a workout with the popular plant-based meal delivery service Sakara, a pop-up shop with cool brand curator Herstory, and a sculpt class led by Sports Illustrated model and trainer Katie Austin. Sought after Aspen aesthetician Bruna Velloso has stopped by O2’s Knockout Beauty treatment room. And not for nothing, my fiancé attended a free Father’s Day class, which he claims was his poshest workout to date.

O2 Dallas’ programming prowess will extend beyond beauty and wellness, however. This Friday and Saturday, in addition to a Day of the Dead sound bath, the Fitzhugh studio is hosting a trunk show for two emerging fashion labels: Marfa Stance, a modular coat brand inspired by the work of Donald Judd, and Partlow, Beyoncé-approved luxury cowboy boots that are handcrafted in Italy. To my knowledge, the only connection between the two brands is Katie Holmes’ love for sporting both during New York City pap walks. (Exhibit AExhibit B.) She seems to wear them separately, but Marfa Stance’s signature quilt jacket and Partlow’s cowboy-inspired ankle boots would make a stylish combo.

Dallasites have their pick of social clubs, so good programming can truly make or break the value of a membership. It’s interesting to see a fitness studio get in on buzzy calendar curation. The more workout-adjacent trunk shows the better.
