Our annual celebration of the very best everything in Dallas returns to the Longhorn Ballroom on August 15. The Best of Big D party ties in to our August magazine issue, which immortalizes all of our choices in a handy print guide and web directory so that you can benefit from our research. But if benefiting year-round isn’t enough, you can enjoy all the best stuff compressed into one single party, too.
We spent months researching categories, paying our own way to decide our favorite Dallas stuff. As a result of that legwork, our favorite bands and favorite foods are gathering together on August 15.
Now, since this is the food section, let’s talk about what there will be to eat.
The region’s best barbecue will be represented: Cattleack Barbeque is bringing smoked bologna sandwiches. So will the best cookies: Cookie Society is bringing chocolate chip cookies and, I quote, “milk shots.” We’ll have Thai satay skewers and crispy chicken skin from Too Thai Street Eats, mini conchas and macarons from Lubellas Patisserie, and cheeses from Scardello. Craving tacos? Ruins is bringing cauliflower al pastor tacos and Resident Taqueria will be searing scallops and folding them into tortillas. (That’s one of my favorite bites of the year, by the way.)
Our Best Indian, Best Dumplings, Best Korean, and Best Vegetarian-Friendly Fine Dining picks are all coming too. So’s the Best Chicken Fried Steak, courtesy of Jonathon’s Forestwood.
There’s even more that I haven’t mentioned, and we’re still booking food booths. This is just your friendly advance notice. Whether you want to celebrate the best of Dallas food and drink, fact-check our research on the top bites, or simply enjoy the best-catered party this city has ever put on, grab your tickets now. General admission is $95 and VIP perks are an extra $30.
And in earnestness: seeing the menu for this event always makes me proud. We spend a lot of time arguing about Dallas culture, fighting to make it better, debating which restaurants are overrated, maybe sometimes wishing we could eat like somebody somewhere else. But then I see that menu and think: dang, Dallas is cool. And it won’t get more Dallas or more cool than this.
