Superstar pianist Lang Lang headlined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s 2024 Gala, held Sept. 28 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. The global star joined the DSO for an electrifying symphony performance conducted by Fabio Luisi, Louise W. & Edmund J. Kahn Music director.
Lang Lang helped the DSO attract a sold-out concert crowd of 1,700 and more than 420 to the accompanying “Club Toulouse” themed gala, which included dinner, drinks, a live auction, and afterparty.
Gala chairs this year were Laura Harris-Means and Patrick Means, who were joined by honorary chairs Cassandra and Avery Johnson. Charles Schwab sponsored the dinner; Capital One hosted the concert.
Cece Smith, board chair of the Dallas Symphony Association, took the opportunity to introduce Michelle Miller Burns, the DSO’s new Ross Perot president and CEO. Burns expressed gratitude for the robust support the symphony receives and asked attendees to mark their calendars for next year’s gala, scheduled for Oct. 4, 2025.
One of the DSO’s largest fundraisers of the year, the gala benefits the symphony’s education and community outreach initiatives, including Young Strings and The Kim Noltemy Young Musicians programs.
